NCPP is the operator of the BIG WAR Against Cancer in Nigeria.”

The Immediate Goal of the “BIG WAR” is “To take holistic cancer prevention to the Grassroots” using Mobile Cancer Centres (Mission PinkCruise).

THE LONG-TERM GOAL of NCPP is to make available four levels of cancer care in Nigeria, viz:

At least one Mobile Cancer Centre (MCC) in every State in Nigeria

At least one Basic Cancer Centre (BCC) in every Local Government Area in Nigeria

At least one Comprehensive Cancer Centre (CCC) in each of the six zones of Nigeria

At least one non-governmental National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Nigeria

This is in line with the declaration of the Union for International Cancer Control, UICC that “All people have the right to access proven and effective cancer treatments and services on equal terms, and without suffering hardship as a consequence.”

The motto of the NCPP is ‘Preventing Cancers…Saving Lives’

The slogan of the NCPP is ACT!

The word ACT in this context has a triple meaning, viz:

ACT! ATTACK CANCER TODAY!

ACT!! ATTACK CANCER TOGETHER!!

ACT!!! ATTACK CANCER TOTALLY!!!

Similarly, the objective of the NCPP (i.e. to establish cancer centres covering the whole nation) is called the ACT! Initiative or the ACT! Project.

 

THE FREE LIFE-SAVING INITIATIVES OF NCPP

 
 

COMPONENTS OF THE FREE COMMUNITY-BASED HEALTH MISSIONS INCLUDE:

A.        Mission PinkCruise: Free community-based preventive cancer care using the Mobile Cancer Centre (MCC) aka the PinkCruise. For more details on the PinkCruise, visit www.pinkcruise.org.
 
B.        Mission PinkVISSION: The eye aspect aspect of the free community outreach using Mobile Ophthalmic unit aka the PinkVISSION. For more details on the PinkVISSION, visit www.pinkvission.org.
 
C.        Mission PinkDentist: The dental aspect of the free community outreach using Mobile Dental unit aka the PinkDentist. For more details on the PinkDentist, visit www.dentaloral.org.
 
The FREE Outreach is targeted primarily at the poor/underprivileged masses.

OTHER LIFESAVING INITIATIVES OF NCPP AT THE BASE CENTRE
 
These include but not limited to:
– Wellness Wednesday: Free screening on Wednesdays
– Family Friday: Free family-focused screening Fridays
– Premarital Health Promotion Programme: Free screening for intending couples on Wednesdays
